Participants

Anyone of any age can participate! We are looking to recruit a total of 50 teens and 50 adults.

Research Team

This study is a collaboration between NYU MindHive and Dr. Robb Rutledge , a cognitive and computational neuroscientist and Assistant Professor at the Department of Psychology at Yale University

Dr. Rutledge is interested in why we choose to do the things we do. His research is geared toward understanding the factors that determine affective states like happiness and to describe how these states influence how we learn and make decisions. His lab explores these questions using a combination of computational models, brain scanning, pharmacology, and large-scale smartphone-based experiments in healthy and clinical populations. He developed a computational and neural model of happiness that links rewards and expectations to subjective feelings and to dopamine, and his team is working to develop a mechanistic understanding of how major depression develops, is sustained, and can relapse
